46th BMW Berlin Marathon
on 29 september 2019
The BMW Berlin Marathon attracts around 40,000 runners, handbikers, and inline skaters from 120 countries, including numerous professional runners from Germany and abroad, for a race through Berlin, who are cheered on by enthusiastic fans.
Berlin is also one of the fastest marathons besides Chicago and London. World records have been set several times in this run, and the current world record was set last year at the 2018 Berlin Marathon by Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge.
The route leads past diverse city sights, while music bands on the side lines, as well as fans, friends and family ensure spirits are high by cheering on the athletes with music, chants, or rhythmic beating. International running stars such as Haile Gebrselassie and Paul Tergat also regularly take part in the BMW Berlin Marathon.
Start and finish takes place on Straße des 17. Juni, Tiergarten in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
